Monday:

Monday breaks down into the following jobs:

Server Team meeting - talk about a new exchange cluster that we are buiding.

'Mitigation plan' - we plan what to do if the exchange cluster is not ready by the date we have agreed.

'Support plan' - this plan enables us to continue to function normally as a business while we incorporate new applications.

Presentation for colleagues - to demonstrate how different operating systems can work on our platform.

Plan network configuration changes.

Software and hardware - in big businesses you create a 'procurement' or 'purchase' order when you want to buy something. This new software and hardware is necessary to integrate the new exchange cluster.

Backup for remote offices - organise technical support for smaller BskyB offices in different towns and cities. This will help them as we move to the new platform.

New intranet site - Check progress on development of new site.

Communication - non-technical colleagues need to know what will happen when we move to the new platform. I prepare a presentation for them.

Finally, I arrange for technical support while the desktop migration occurs.

Tuesday:

Design Team meeting - network design for remote sites.

Financial application team meeting- talk about financing future projects and I tell them about current migration plans.

Telephone meeting or conference call - we discuss installation of new servers and network equipment.

Communications - I present the plan I wrote yesterday to non-technical colleagues. I explain what will happen and what they need to know.

Test plans - my own team meets to discuss these.

Procurement orders - for installation of server and network equipment.

Wednesday:

Conference call - I meet the network provider to discuss changes.

Plan - I schedule outage (time when the network is offline) when we will change fibre.

Recruitment companies - while this work is happening, we will need extra staff. I meet a company to organise this.

Procurement order - the new, temporary staff will need Blackberry access while they work with us. I arrange this.

Thursday:

Weekly team meeting - this is a chance to talk about all the projects and decide what we need to do next.

Review - after the meeting I review our 'milestones' - the phases of the project that we have successfully completed.

Meeting - I meet the network provider to review the project and decide if future improvements are necessary.

Friday:

Complete weekly reports

Spend statistic reports - reports that show the money we have spent

Reports on time billed against projects - how many hours employees spent on different projects

Weekly meeting with management - this is a chance to review the week's activities with my bosses.
