Name:
Yann Jouanin
Age:
19
Country:
France
Job:
Apprentice Engineer
At 19 years old, Yann Jouanin is just starting out on his IT career. But he already has a wealth of experience to help him, thanks to an early introduction to his local Networking Academy.
As a result, he is studying at a prestigious institute whilst working for a well-known IT company in his native France. What is more, last October he scored an incredible 921 out of 1000 in his written CCNA examination.
He joined a NetAcad whilst still at school, at the age of 16. In fact, as he points out: “that’s why I chose the school. I wanted to study in this program because of both Cisco’s and the Networking Academies’ reputations.”
Now Yann is studying hard at the Ecole Supérieure d’Ingénieurs en Electronique et Electrotechnique (ESIEE), a renowned center for higher education in science and technology, which operates under the supervision of the French Ministry of Industry.
Its advanced on-site facilities for teaching and research in electronics and microelectronics are also used for business and industry support services such as training, internship projects, and R&D contracts.
Meanwhile, Yann is such an old-timer in the world of IT that he had the confidence to also get a job as an Apprentice Engineer, specializing in security at Communicative System (CS), in their Network Expert Department. A highly impressive achievement, as CS is one of the best-known and respected systems integrators in France.
So how did he do it? “I was looking at major network integrators near to Paris, and the first one I sent my CV to was Communicative System, they answered it very quickly and I soon got a meeting with the Network Department Manager,” says Yann. And was it difficult? “I got the job easily,” he adds nonchalantly.
According to him: “The Network Academy Program was a way to show that even without lengthy previous working experience, I was able to work on Cisco devices, which are the most used in networks. It was a big factor in my favour.”
Moreover, he is “totally sure the Networking Academy Program helped me to become CCNA certified and I really trust in the power of Cisco Certifications!” His previous school also seems to have had a high level of trust in their student, asking Yann to join them – as an IT instructor.
Full of confidence and with a level of experience beyond many of his age group, Yann has his sights firmly fixed on a future in IT, with his next big goal to “become CCIE certified.”
