Cisco partner, nscglobal, has been hiring Cisco Networking Academy graduates this year to work in its Czech office. We asked Mike Milahop, HR manager for the company, to explain to us who they are looking to hire, what the ideal candidate will be like and the qualities that he or she must possess to get the job.

You have recruited 15 Networking Academy graduates recently – why are you looking for Cisco trained staff?nscglobal is looking to recruit Cisco 1st & 2nd Line Network Support Engineers to work variable shift patterns within our Global Network Operations Facility in Brno, Czech Republic to support one of our Fortune 100 clients support its Cisco products globally.
Could you describe the ideal job candidate for one of your positions?The ideal job candidate would have the following skills:
- Experience of customer service ideally gained in a customer facing environment
- CCNA studying or Fully CCNA qualified or relevant experience
- English proficiency in both verbal & written form
- Good working knowledge of languages such as French, Dutch, German, Spanish or Italian
The ideal candidate would also need to be:
- Flexibile to work either 12 hr shifts (weekends, nights, national holidays) or day 8 hr shifts (Mon – Fri)
- Eligible to work in Czech Republic, willing to relocate, culturally sensitive, appreciate cultural differences
What makes a job candidate stand out for you?We are not only looking for candidates with outstanding technical and soft skills but also those that can offer a good personality fit within the business. Technology skills are key to the operations but the soft skills are also vital to the success of the business as they have a great impact on customers. Soft skills include good communication, accountability, problem solving, interaction with others and time management to name just few.
Can you tell us what jobs the latest bunch of recruits are doing – describe their roles.The latest recruits are providing a mix of 1st & 2nd line support for our major telecommunications customer. Duties and responsibilities listed are not exhaustive but include:
Principle Duties and Responsibilities in tier 1 and 2:
- Multi platform Cisco router and switch support
- Direct customer and account team interface providing day to day network support
- Manage trouble investigation, isolation and steady state recovery
- Assists users to identify and solve complex connection/communication problems
Can you describe the roles you are currently hoping to fill?Cisco 1st & 2nd Line Network Support Engineers as well as entry level roles who are starting or looking to start their career within the networking industry.
Any tips to Netacad students listening to this interview? What do you expect them to do to secure a position with you?The best tip I can offer would be to be enthusiatic about the role and working with nscglobal. Your motivation and drive will make you stand out from other candidates. Apart from this all the usual criteria applies, ensure you are dressed appropriately for interview, turn up on time and are able to articulate why you will be best suited for the role and why you would like the opportunity to work in the role and at nscglobal.
